Libra’s Darts talent wins Antwerp Open Darts Tournament
Jimmy Hendriks from the small town of Castricum, won the Antwerp Open Darts tournament on Sunday 14th of August. He beat Martin Atkins (UK) in the final match 3-0. With his amazing performance he won the tournament out of 495 competitors. We asked Jimmy about his preparation before the tournament.
Jimmy, how do you prepare yourself for such a big tournament?
“First, I make sure that I’m present at the competition venue two hours before my first match. The first hour I will throw darts for warming up. After that I will throw every 20 minutes before the coming match. I repeat this cycle at every tournament so my preparation is more or less the same.”
Are you back in the game now?
“I’m definitely back in form, I think I play more focused now than a couple of months ago. In this tournament it all came together and fell into place.”
How often do you practice?
“I practice almost every day with the exception of the days that I’m travelling.”
Which tournaments are scheduled for this year?
“For this season a couple of tournaments are planned like the Swedish Open next week. After that I will play at the French Open. Also PDC u23 and two tournaments in the United Kingdom are on my list. The new season will start in October.”
